Why Web 2.0?

Some staff members at my school are taking a web 2.0 course online this summer! Our fearless leader, Kathy, describes it as a journey, and that's exactly what it is for me! I'm over 40 (technically when you are over 50, then you are still over 40!) and have lived with four computer savvy (to say the least) men! My three sons grew up in the evolving technology age and it is second nature to them. Chet, my husband, embraced it naturally as he lives in a technology world as far as his career goes. We've always had the latest in technology with networked computers in our home for years, etc.. (Chet got his IPad the day that it debuted.) Unfortunately, the guys in my life were glad to "fish" for me rather than teach me to fish! This course is going to definitely shift my skills into the 21st century! It doesn't take a rocket scienctist to see that our students are definitely not the same ones that I went to school with years ago. Our desks were in perfect lines and we competed for the right to dust the erasers outside at recess! Today's students are at ease with technology that I don't even know exists. Thus, it is with some trepidation but also some satisfaction that I embark upon the journey that Kathy has charted. I hope that I can say in August: You've come a long way, baby! (*Note: For you young ones out there, that is from a Virginia Slims commercial from decades ago!!)
